Lee pro 1000 mounting
Hey guys I just got my pro1000 in mail today. I set it on my bench and find I may have a problem. The mounting holes are very close to the edge of the 2x4 I have on the front of the bench (where the top sheet of plywood attaches to) in afraid it's going to split when I drill a hole for mounting bolts. I can get a bolt in the back of the press with no problems. I'm thinking I might be able to use 4inch screws on the two mounting tabs in front. Is this sturdy n has anyone done this? My single stage mounted to problem

When you drill the holes according to the template, you should be fine.
Otherwise you could buy the LEE Bench Plate or make something similar yourself, the holes are much further from the edge that way.
Or don't drill into the table at all, and use a LEE bench plate or some other piece of wood, attach the press on that, and clamp it on the table with two C-clamps. That's the way I will be doing it, because I don't want to drill holes into my kitchen table

Re: Lee pro 1000 mounting
I would have to recommend the Bench Plate. I don't have the 1000 but suspect there is a bit of movement in operation like any turret or progressive. I use the Bench Plate with a steel base on all five of my presses and (single stage, turret, and three LM) and have an additional bench plate mounted on work bench in my garage where I size bullets. The base will protect the edge of your bench.

Here's some pics to help you better understand. The bolt already they is from my single stage challenger. It's in just enough to where it don't split but the holes on the 1000 are closer to the edgeq

Yup bench plate or mount it to a board and use a C-clamp as I did.

Order 3 of them that way they won't break until you lose them. LOL Sorry I couldn't resist.
