I saw it on the internet
I saw it on the internet this morning and Rush Limbaugh was talking about it for almost an hour this morning as I was traveling but I can't find it now to post a link to.
The Word was that president obama used his executive privilege this morning to ban the manufacture of .223 and 5.56 ammo for all but the government and law enforcement.
As I read the article he decided since he cannot do away with the second amendment he will stop the production of all ammo over time.
Idea being " second amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear arms" but doesn't say anything about ammo.
So by banning all ammo purchases he has in fact shut down the second amendment!
I don't know any more about it than I wrote here as I was driving and didn't have time to take any notes
Anyone know any more than I have written?

Re: I saw it on the internet
The addresses below are latest posts I could find by NRA and National Shooting Sport foundation. At this point it is being considered by BATFE under recommendation of the President Obama. If put in effect in any form it would just make gun ownership and use that much more difficult. contact Congressional representatives and BATFE and pray it doesn't become legal mandate.

Re: I saw it on the internet
This morning I saw a bit that says they are reclassing 1 bullet as an AP . It is the cheapest 1 in commercial and surplus ammo. So if it happens it will take away 1 load. The alternate reasoning is that there are now so many main stream pistol type (ARs, contenders,xp100s etc) that 223/556 can be considered also a pistol cartridge and AP ammo in handguns is illegal.

Re: I saw it on the internet
From what I heard on this side of the water, they plan to ban the steel core (green tip) surplus ammo. The fear is that they ban lead ammo because of environmental reason, and lead free ammo because it's "armor piercing".

From what I've seen all rifle rounds can pierce type III armor.

Re: I saw it on the internet
This ban I believe its primary action is to ban so called military ammo (surplus)from civilian hands. Look at the price of m855 and m193 right now it is worth its weight in gold now. This ban has been in the breeze a little bit and panick buying of m193 and m855. Also the 5.7 PCC round may be on the block as its massive velocity and its low body mass lead it to defeat body armor very well. It is always a gateway though I'm not concerned about this ammo specifically but what will be next? I'm sure there is even more stuff to this bill but the M855 is my main concern This round performed well in my ar rifles.

Its the steel core m855 they're going after, claiming that it's armor piercing "handgun" ammo. Not too intelligent on a number of levels.

I cast 99% of what I shoot so what ever this bozo does won't stop me. But on any level of reality obummer is trampling on our Constitution. I pray an inspired leader will triumph, replacing this idiot's actions with sound judgment preserving our Constitution for our children and grandchildren.

I hear ya, Sir. Unfortunately, my personal feelings tell me the American people are still asleep at the wheel, and that it will only get worse. The citizens are the safety valve of this government. And the sad fact is for every 100 people that can tell you who the starting lineup is for "their" team, there is only 1 person who can tell you who their representatives are.daboone wrote:I pray an inspired leader will triumph, replacing this idiot's actions with sound judgment preserving our Constitution for our children and grandchildren.
