The American Flag
Anyone here a USPS employ or a stamp collector?
Went to the post office today and bought a book of the new Star Spangled Banner forever stamps.
To me the flag is on the stamp backwards!
Being retired Military I know that when displaying the American Flag in a static setting the Stars are always on the left and the Stripes on the right.
On the new stamp the flag is reversed.
Done on purpose or do we have a great collector stamp?
Would sure like to know if it was done on purpose or is just a great gross mistake.

Re: The American Flag
I hate to say it but who knows maybe they changed it because it offended someone the way we have done it previously for all these years. I'm curious and truly hope it is a mistake.

The way things have gone in the world the last several years &
the way things are going in the USA "NOW" It's more than a bit
troubling to me. This stuff not only makes me sad, & angry,
frightens me to the core...

Re: The American Flag
Tradition is part of an American by gone era. Probably to never return. When I saw that boot camps separated training in the core because it was unfair to some. I knew things have changed for worse. I hope they leave our flag alone.

Re: The American Flag
If I said what I really feel about most of the unconstitutional, and stupid stuff that is going on these days the feds would haul me off tomorrow. I don't think it would be anyone on this forum, but you can bet there would be a lot of other people offended when I got done saying what is on my mind. They would tell me that freedom of speech doesn't apply to me.

The American Flag
As Active Duty Mil, we get that question concerning the flags on our uniforms. I am assuming they are doing the same thing with the USPS stamp. On a moving item, vehicles and Soldiers (And Airman and Navy/Marines when appropriate) uniforms, the flags are designed to look as if they are moving forward, as in the stars are to the right and the stripes are streaming to the left "in the wind". As a letter should be moving....hence same design.
Right side patches will appear "backwards" and left side patches will appear proper (stars on viewers left).
