Just a couple of Mausers

Post by RBHarter »

That followed me home from Arkansas. A 264 WM on an FN action and a 257 on a 96' I think.

You REALLY don't want that 257. I could trade you an original for it!

Yep it is kind of a ugly old toad ain't it. It was built from an action yhat was literally snatched from the of the crusher along with an Oviedo 1908. It is unfired since the build ,I'm waiting on a new mould for it. The 264 in the dark stock appears to also be unfired . I put the straight bolt in a Boyds prairie hunter stock . I left it with all of its GI sights and 29 inches of bbl for the 7x57.

The 96 is wearing an Adams and Bennett 21" 257 Roberts bbl Prarie Hunter "luck of the draw" stock with 20 coats of oil,GI 2 stage trigger , thumb safety ,and cock on closing bolt. It is likely a Spanish action suited to 45 kpsi loads and an ideal cast shooter. The smith works to .0005 so it should be superbly accurate. I don't think I'll be trading it off but I can put you in touch with the smith.
