My Motorcycle Won Bike Of The Month On GSXR.COM!
I just joined this forum and don't really know anybody here but damnit I'm gonna squeeze every second of my 15 minutes of fame out of the win and brag to anybody and everybody.
For the record, I'm not a kid. I'm 53 but still prefer sport bikes. Cruisers KILL my lower back and sport bikes don't. I also like that they are lighter and handle great. And I do succumb to the urge to twist the throttle now and then.
On a more personal note, I started riding at the age of 45 while I was in my 4th month of chemo. I had stage 3C colon cancer and had about a 30% chance of surviving 5 years so I figured I'd better do things I've always wanted to do before my time is up. As it turned out I lived and still enjoy riding very much. Shooting/reloading, riding and keeping an aquarium are my favorite hobbies.

Good job on all accounts. My wife has the BRCA2 mutation and has beaten cancer twice.
She rides a Piaggio MP3 500 and consumes my reloads at the range :-)

Not at all I should have done it myself. Thanks.Ranch Dog wrote:Well heck, I'm proud of you on all counts! Hope you don't mind but I went ahead and added a picture to your post!
I'm actually more proud of the job I did on the engine. If you scroll down further you can see it. That's what took me some time. You can eat off of it!

Re: My Motorcycle Won Bike Of The Month On GSXR.COM!
Thank you all for the above encouraging posts. It seems that I'm dealing with a bit of "rusty plumbing" (found the week before Christmas) and scheduled for a pre-surgery exam next week. No biopsies yet, and so far no talk about the Big C, just a chunk of gut and some unwanted spare parts needing to be removed.
And, for the record, NO .... I ain't riding on nothing that wont stand up by itself, on it's own
No Fear. And to the surgeons .... "Aim low boys, he's ridin' a Shetland Pony"

Re: My Motorcycle Won Bike Of The Month On GSXR.COM!
I found mine from a belly ache that wouldn't go away. I had family history so I started scopes in my 30's. Had one in May of 2005 and was stage 3C in November of 2006. One tiny tick before stage 4 which is certain death. I have no doubt that he didn't go far enough because the cancer started at the end where the large and small intestines meet (secum). I sued but after 5 years my lawyers told me they weren't bringing it to trial BECAUSE I LIVED. I guess being poisoned and tortured for 6 months causing irreparable nerve damage to my feet and losing my career wasn't enough.
Best of luck with whatever you have going on.

Re: My Motorcycle Won Bike Of The Month On GSXR.COM!
That's exactly how I started a couple weeks ago. Thought it was a virus, but after 5 days of self nursing, and 102° fever off and on, decided to get it checked. After a couple days in the hospital, and three cat scans, the surgeon was ready to cut immediately, but the gastro guy wanted to wait till the infection/inflammation was down so he could safely do the colonoscopy to check the colon. So far, it sounds like the same location you dealt with (still dealing with) ... a section of the small intestine, also the appendix, and a cyst beside the appendix.
I figure it will be what it will be. God's in charge
