YOUR Cartridge
Not three. Not two. ONE! What is THE cartridge that "floats your boat"? For me its the 25-06. Just something about its laser-like quality, big game ability, and lack of recoil that just can't be replaced in my arsenal.

Re: YOUR Cartridge
Hmmm..... this is a tough one. So many calibers.... I suppose if I had to pick just one... it would be .223 as that is my go to round. Of course I am just picking from the calibers that I use and feel familiar with.

Re: YOUR Cartridge
There was a time where I was a full on member of the cult of the black rifle and would have said .223 in an instant.
These days I'm all about the .30-30 and it doesn't seem to be phasing out. In fact, I load it by the bucket at this point...

Re: YOUR Cartridge
I really like this cartridge too. About 9 grains of Unique and a 165gr. chunk of lead. Great, for ammo therapy.

Re: YOUR Cartridge
A couple of years ago I'd have said the 44-40 hands down. But I've come back to appreciating the 357 Mag in a rifle for general all around use.

Re: YOUR Cartridge
MMMMM.....
I think it would be 45 Colt. The versatility of that cartridge simple astounds me. That, coupled with the strength of the Blackhawk and M92 Rossi platforms allows for some powerful ammo. But, you can also easily go the other direction and come up with some plinking loads that give great fun as well.
But,,,,,the 30-30 is a hoot too..................tough choices.....

Re: YOUR Cartridge
My all time favourite cartridge is metric, it's the 6.5x55 Swede. I have shot this calibre for over 30 years in competition and even more years in shooting game. I now have only one rifle in my fav calibre these days and it's a Tikka T3 Varmint in left hand.
I could go on about other calibers but I don't want to bore you. Ok, then the next two are 45-70 (naturally) and an old favourite of mine the 222.
There others but someone made it hard by asking for JUST ONE!!!!!!

Re: YOUR Cartridge
I like the versatility of the .308, from varmint and target shooting to big game up to and including Elk.
I also like the flexibility of the .45 Colt in pistols, carbines and rifles with anything from light plinking loads with inexpensive cast bullets to 32,000 psi loads and jacketed bullets offering .30-30 performance on medium sized game out to about 150 yards.
But my preferred caliber for just plain fun is the .375 Winchester.
