Stuff
Myfolks made a trip out from Ar to visit and sort through more stuff and take a load back. Dad always has stuff for me cause pushung 50 I'm now the spoiled only child I wasn't as a kid.
This haul included an I think complete Lee Deluxe reloading kit. I haven't had a chance to go through it but the high points are a powder measure and discuss set, 1 lb of Unique, 45 acp and 38 dies each in there own turret and a small hoard of brass. I think all of the kit is there.
He brought about 60 lb of lead pipe and flashing too. That works out for several ML I have on hand.
I will probably offer up some of the kit for sale or trade after I get through it, because a guy should have dies set up for a 38 and a 357 and 2 or 3 spare sets, and a safety scale to double check the Ohause M5's. I'm torn on the press, I have a 50s vintage Pacific "C" press,2 RockChucker, a Partner and a Load Master.
I guess the best part was me not having to drive 40 hours to spend a week visiting and scrounging and 40 more back home. The visit was cut too short by my folks attending the Burros HS 57 yr reunion of the Class of 1957. My grandmother is in decline also which has coincided nicely with the planned trips.(for the sake of being upbeat at a time that will prove to bring mourning). I guess I'm just rambling now.

Actually, it is nice that your parents are cleaning things out.

The older you get the more you tend to ramble. Now I know how my Dad felt.

Re: Stuff
Spending time with the folks is nice, & the goodies make it even better.
Sure wish I still had my folks around to go visit, even 40 hr's away...

Re: Stuff
We spent the post Christmas week with them it was nice ,how do y'all not die of boredom in deer stands?
Dad sent me home with an unfired FN Mauser 264 WM mentioned above and the 257 Roberts we/he had built on the 96 Mauser and unfired. I'll put up some pix when we get home, the 257 is drool worthy.

It was a lot like duck blinds out here except you actually can't see as far as you can shoot.

Now there is a place that I can't sit. That cold moist air makes me crazy. Same with goose hunting.RBHarter wrote:It was a lot like duck blinds out here except you actually can't see as far as you can shoot.
I had a friend take me goose hunting between Eagle Lake and Columbus. Next thing I know is we are out on that prairie with the wind, laying in a "cacoon" in the mud. It's still a bit until shooting light and I'm frozen. I told him that I had $300 in my pocket and it was his if he would take me back to the ranch house and give me a hot cup of coffee. He did immediately.

Re: Stuff
I've done that in deer stands with very wet cold temps. Just didn't like sitting wet n cold. I prefer to stalk n track and hunt on my feet. I can keep my body heat up and blood flowing.Ranch Dog wrote:Now there is a place that I can't sit. That cold moist air makes me crazy.
