Cast Bullets in 375 Ruger
So now that I've got a rifle in 375 Ruger I'm finding myself more and more interested in what its capable of with cast bullets. Seems like duplicating or improving on 375 Winchester power might be the ticket. To go beyond that, what pressure/velocity limits would I run into with gas checked bullets?

Based on my personal experience, any Lyman #2 clone with a bit of #8 shot and water quenched is good for 42.0K to 48.0K PSI.

Re: Cast Bullets in 375 Ruger
Thank you much, Sir. I'm sure I could spend countless hours on the web reading and weeding through mind numbing opinions, but it's nice to cut to the chase while adding to the forum here. Anyway, I'd never given the 38-55 or 375 Winchester more than a glance until stumbling on them a few days ago. And the more I read about them the more I'm flabbergasted they're not more popular. And this 375 Ruger seems to be extremely versatile for a handloader. I could load something appropriate for everything from deer to elephant with one rifle... Might be my new favorite round.

Re: Cast Bullets in 375 Ruger
Jeeesh... just checked QuickLoad. If I use a 250gr RCBS bullet bullet and select a max pressure of 42k there are a handful of powders I can get locally that do better than 2500 FPS./3500F FTLBS. That's some serious thump behind a flat nose bullet! If I had Lee custom make the TLC380-250-RF do you think it would work in my 375 Ruger? I'm not sure how much bullets can be sized without running into problems, or even what problems occur. I haven't sugged it yet.

Re: Cast Bullets in 375 Ruger
The best to speculate after the barrel is slugged. I went out to check my inventory of TLC380 and durn if I cannot find any. No idea where that particular bin is. I'm sizing the bullet to .377" for my Rossi Rio Grande chambered in 38-55 Win.357cyrus wrote:Jeeesh... just checked QuickLoad. If you ever find your bin let me know. Just called Lee precision and they want $228 for a six cavity mold before shipping!

NOE might have what you are looking for in a Ranch Dog design. Seam like RD said someone else were making his molds too.

I'm not in a hurry, and there are other choices, just not my first. I did score about 40lbs of free wheel weights today though, so I did get some good news!
