How Much Ammo?

On another forum I read a post where the poster wanted to know how much loaded ammo you keep on hand.
Some of the answers were a little over the top ,or at least it seemed so to me.

So my question is how much is too much.

Reason for asking, I have about a 50 gal barrel of various brass that I use.
I am a brass rat, collecting and storing all I can get.
If I reloaded all I have I would need a very large storage area for it and then would not be sure of its security.

I know there is ( supposed to be ) no limit on stored ammo but is on gunpowder and primers.

All in all for the several pistol and rifle calibers I have I have about 1000 rounds loaded ( a lot is Mil Surplus).
Have always thought that was enough and could load enough rather quickly for anything I needed.

For me, 1000 rounds of each gun caliber I have, is probably enough.

Enough for a months shooting. Sooo that would be about 300 for the 45 and about the same in 22 LR. The .308 Win and .380 I load as needed as I don't shoot either very much.

I don't like to load every time I go shooting. I generally like to load twice a month. Once for my bullseye comp ammo and once for my "play ammo."

I shoot 400-500 38s per week usually, so load about 2k at a time. I usually load about 500 45ACP, and maybe 50 45 colts per month.

I guess total I may have up to 3000 or so rounds counting my carry ammo I load for my CC guns.

I like to keep all the mags loaded and 200 or so for pistols box ed . I have 100-200 for the revolvers. 308 has 1000 on hand as I bought a a broken tin about 10 yrs ago. 2-300 x 39s. The 06' is lacking at the moment as is 38 and 357.

I don't have any more ammo since the boating incident. Lost it all. Did have a couple hundred for each except the sks. It has a little bit more.

Once upon a time I loaded up all my guns and bullets. Went fishing at a undisclosed lake. While fishing.. my boat suddenly started taking on water and sunk to the bottom of the lake. Taking all my guns and bullets. So now as for the gubbermit knows... I no longer own a gun and can't recollect where I lost them.
