How Much Ammo?

Right now I got about 500 shotgun shells, 200 .38spl (which will be less than 50 in a week) and 4 (yes, four) .45ACP rounds in my safe.

I definately need some time on my press... a day or two would be nice.

I tend to keep one years worth of handgun ammunition ready and three years of rifle but the quantity held is also determined by storage boxes in use for each cartridge. So at anytime, about 7700 rounds of ammunition.

I load 1K at a time in 9mm and 500 at a time in .45. I mostly buy my .223/5.56 because it is so darn labor intensive to make but I currently have about 500 handmade rounds and 660 bought a rounds.

I like to have 1000rds of the pistol ammo in boxes and another 1000 in a ziplock bag or 2 waiting to go into the boxes. When the zip locks are empty (and I'm not in lazy mode) I'll buy the stuff and load 1K worth to bring me back up to my baseline.

Very true. When looked from SHTF view, I'm living where I need to be and where others will try to get so I need to increase the inventory!

Summer's here in Arizona are HOT as He.. so during the summer months I'll load up on some extra stuff but certainly not anything close to a year's supply. I'm old, ugly and ornery so it makes everyone happy including myself that during the beautiful winter months here I just reload what I need for the next day's range excursion and keep out of everyone hair in between!
