Special Order Rifle (Collet) FCD
Just thought I would note the time it took to special order a Rifle (Collet) FCD for my 480 Ruger, it was 30 days.
The only 480 Ruger I shoot is a Rossi R92, they only made 100 of these rifles and I feel very lucky to own one!

Re: Special Order Rifle (Collet) FCD
The hurt came a bit later. I was deer hunting in late December and this hog crossed the road in front of me about 25 yards out. My gun was already up as I was expecting a large buck to step out but I guess the hog turned it around. Anyway, this hog had a pretty good head of steam going so it continued into the thick brush after I shot. It staggered really hard so I knew I hit it well. I had been sitting in below freezing temperatures for several hours, something us Texans are not used to so I figured I would just get it in the morning. I was there an hour before shooting light, might was well hunt, but in the dark the coyotes were having a food fight about 35 yards from where I was sitting and had sat the night before. I waited until daylight and then walked into the brush. You are looking at a "air" hog. Nothing inside the hide. They skinned it and deboned it!mikld wrote:Ouch! Put the hurt on that pig, fer shurrr!

On the left side of the photo is the end result of the using the Collet FCD
You can see how the segments of the collet moved in horizontally and crimped the 480 Ruger case. The standard crimp delivered via the bullet sizing die is on the right.

One would think the roll crimp would be easier on the brass.

Been shooting with the FCD on most of the cartridges I shoot for 20+ years I think. I bought them when introduced but not sure when that was. Anyway, I've always had exceptional case life.62chevy wrote:One would think the roll crimp would be easier on the brass.
