Well, so far, out of the 5 votes, 3 are wanting to learn how to make potasium Nitrate from Dirt.... So unless thing change by next week, its gunna be dirt farming...lol... I learned from experience straight out of the us army field manual.... And it works....

I'm in for KNO3 too .
Black willow is still king of the hill for powder charcol but I've made some from sweet gum and tonight while camped out w/my grands I cooked off a batch of grape wood for powder chacol to try out.

I saw some ''tundra buggies'' a while back. If you can share some of them I'm sure these guys would dig 400hp jeeps on terra trackers w/hot showers .

Seriously, this is the very subject I had in mind when I got my first "chemistry set" at age 11, but the big disappointment was there were no gunpowder directions. Fifty years of catching up to do.

Larryw, tell us about the woods that are native out there in the desert...... Hardwoods are the worst for charcoal... Soft woods the best.... Soooooo give us some of the names of the native woods you have in your area.....
