Well Guys, I been trying to get a couple spring bears with my son in Prince William Sound here in Alaska, but so far, nada. Spent 6 days going over beaches and shorelines, where last year we had a pick of about 25 bears by this time, and NOT One bear was seen.No tracks, no poop, nuthing... yesterday, and the day before, I spent a couple days scouting the high country, and it seems it has been so HOT here in this part of Alaska (69F), the bears are reluctant to come down to the lowlands for the usual food sources... I guess the early warm spring weather that is VERY unusual for my part of Alaska is having a real effect on the spring bear hunt.... Each person that lives in this region can harvest 5 Black Bears with free tags, and one Brown Bear for a 20 dollar tag... We just have a lot of bears... now Hopefully, me and the son can get a couple in the freezer before the fish start running.... Wish us Luck... Thanks guys... It will happen...

As far as what we are shooting, the 2 of us are taking 4 guns... Of course my trusty 44 will be plastered to my chest, and my son will have his shotgun loaded with lee slugs and buckshot for defense.... But for hunting, i will have my old browning A-bolt in 375 h&h shooting the lyman 375449 over 2400 for a brownie, and my son will be shooting my Swiss k31 7.5 x 55 shooting the lyman 311299 again over 2400.... The brown bear ammo is cast real hard, and the black bear is kinda soft... It will be our first brownie with cast hopefully... But first we gotta find some.... Going out again prolly later this week or next week for another 4 or 5 days to is area.....
