So what does it do with the rod in and the turret off?

Re: Indexing Specific Question - 4 Hole Classic Press
With the turret off, it will let the ram rise most of time, and will index on the down stroke. What I can’t get to work is alignment - when I drop a turret in, it’s not aligned for indexing, and while it won’t break the ratchet, it won’t spin the turret. Turret will spin fine by hand. I don’t get it - Lee tells me to rotate the nut atop of the indexing rod, but that makes no difference at all - I can’t drop in a turret so that it will engage the rod and be aligned, and once they’re connected, the turret will not turn.

Can you post a few pictures of the parts (index rod, turret) and complete setup? Maybe a video where you carefully try to rotate the turret.

It could be the collar that goes around the square "rachet" is bad. Another thing I'll ask is does the turret rotate freely around the head with the index rod removed? I have a couple that are/were very stiff to rotate.

That's where I was going four days ago when I last posted here.

Re: Indexing Specific Question - 4 Hole Classic Press
Sorry I’ve been tardy, Lads - really appreciate the help!
So, what I’ve discovered is that my rod is likely bad - if I crank the nut head down as far as it will go, I CAN rotate the turret with the ram up, but! Rod nut, when sitting in the turret pocket, doesn’t appear to seat fully - as such, base of the rod is jammed against the bottom of the press, and I’m pretty sure that’s the problem. Talking to Lee about that now…

Well the HUGE THANKS for this thread goes out to Fyodor, and Dan at Inline Fabrication - His reverse kit works like a charm, and for the firs time ever, this thing indexes and isn’t breaking ratchets!
