Legacy Loadmaster parts

Post by Tim Stapp »

As a recent owner of a Loadmaster press after owning one years ago (life's happenings caused me to sell it-divorce) I was somewhat dismayed to recently learn of it's being relegated to "legacy" status. I'm in search of expanding my loading capabilities to .38 special.

It seems that the shellplate for the loadmaster for this caliber or it's bigger brother is no longer produced by Lee.

I've always liked the value of Lee Precision products. But should I look to a different press to load my revolver ammo? I'm not real keen on doing it on my turret press. Not much faster than a C-frame.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? I've searched for a 1S shell plate to no avail.

My Classic Turret with auto index and powder-through expanding die equipped with an Auto Drum on top is WAY faster than my Challenger.

.38 Special should be the most common plate there is.

Sprectrereloading.com shows having five in stock for 22.95. I don't know anything about this outfit so buyer beware as such. Only one's I could find on a cursory search. I'm surprised at the results. Good luck.

EDIT: Did a Google search for Lee Loadmaster shell plate 1s, scroll down until you find Sprectre reloading site showing the 1s plate, click on that. That's the way I found the shell plate. Hope they can help you, but again, I know nothing of them.

They show none in stock. Same with pretty much all the usual vendors.

Tim, I just replaced my LoadMaster with a SixPackPro, I may have an extra shell plate for 38 if you haven’t found one.
