Hi Fyodor. What is a powder roof? I'm not familar with the term. All I can vision is a baffle.Fyodor wrote:In my club we all use trailboss powder. He had a powder jam in the hopper above the actual measure. Since he uses a powder "roof" in the hopper it didn't happen again.

My mothertounge is German, and there we call that a "powder roof". But I guess it's a baffle in English, I just didn't know that word.

I've caught myself with my Pro Auto twisted to the "off" position a could of times. I catch it as I'm about to set the bullet in place.

OK, so it seems good lighting and a glimpse down the case would always be a good idea.

Re: Reloading... Pay Attention!
Been reloading for nearly 35 years. Recently had my first double charge. Fortunately, I caught it in the case prior to seating a bullet - NOT in the gun. Never double charged one before, and didn't used to check real close. But I was using a very small charge of pistol powder and thought I would check just in case. One just didn't look right, and it wasn't! I now check EVERYTHING twice...
Re: Reloading... Pay Attention!
Had it happen to me during a Match in the early 1960's.
In those days didn't have enough money to have extra rounds.
Since then I have only loaded one round at a time in a single stage press.
I prime all brass but from there on it is one at a time , ( powder , bullet, seat bullet ) and set aside in a tray to be crimped all at once so all have the exact same crimp.
All brass is prepped and neck sized prior to priming.
Have never had a FTF since.

Re: Reloading... Pay Attention!
I had a failure to fire today need to take the round apart to see if it was a bad primer or no powder. Heard nothing so leaning towards the primer, Federal LPM.
