Standard pressure reloads are kind to cases. Carbide sizer dies seem to work cases more than do older type steel dies. Roll crimps work brass more so than do taper crimps. A valid statement is the less that brass is worked the longer it will last.

Thanks for all the responses, I have about 500 or so 38sp+ cases that I'm gradually emptying and putting into retirement as I've gotten hold of about 400 357 cases, about 250 of which are IMI which I think is the Israeli Metal Industries product which are the dogs danglies. As soon as I've run out of 38s I'll start filling these.

Been reloading for quite a long time and have NEVER had to trim a straight wall handgun case! I prep (decap and tumble), then get after it, and never look back!

Im still loading 38 Special that says "Peters" on the case head...not "Rem-Peters", just Peters.
Heck, some of them the headstamp has disappeared all together.

I have some .32WCF brass from pre-smokeless powder times but I doubt it's been reloaded.

I bought some range brass 45 Colt cases that turned out to be way too long. The extractor marks looked like they were fired in some sort of lever action rifle. Since trimming them to length they have worked fine.
