I purchased the Savage 110 in 6,5 Creedmoor with the intention of doing some long range shooting. The sport takes a good rifle, good glass and good ammo. Got the rifle and glass and I've been working on the ammo.
I have discovered that the Hornady brass that comes in the 50 round boxes is pretty well prepped. I've made it my practice to uniform and deburr flash holes on any competition brass, these didn't need it and after running over a .264 mandrel the necks showed .001 of run out. Loaded with Barnes 140 grain Match Burners seated using Frankford's in-line seater the neck and bullet run out stayed at .001 and once I got my hold settled I got a 1/2 MOA hundred yard 5 shot group.
So far I've been happy with the 10 shot ladder load development method.
As of right now brass and powder haven't been much of a hardship, primers on the other hand remain a problem.
Make smoke,
Some observations

Re: Some observations
Savage rifles shoot really well right out of the box. Always surprised but never disappointed.

Re: Some observations
My last three NIB bolt rifles were the Savage Scouts; all three were amazingly accurate. The 10FCM chambered in 7.62x39 is a favorite.Macd wrote:Savage rifles shoot really well right out of the box. Always surprised but never disappointed.
