Broke My Press

Post by GasGuzzler »

Guessing I will have to get a new single stage. I don't see parts to fix this on Lee's website.

Call Lee and ask for the parts. I bet they will give them to you.

I put the broken parts in a SRFB and mailed it to them for $8.30 since I'm pretty sure it's long discontinued. Maybe they'll send a whole new press back. I was sizing 7.62X39 ... the last eight pieces too difficult to use the APP on. Cases did not stick and look fine.

I will be interesting to see what they do. Did you buy it new or was it used? Just curious.

Used. It's probably 15 years old.

I am aSSuming they will send me updated steel parts if they have them. If not, they may send me a Breech Lock Challenger and a bill for 1/2 the retail price. I would pay the extra to get a Classic Cast at half price though. Hope that is an option ... but they're all out of stock as well.

Lee rep told me that they keep a supply of repair parts for just about everything for warranty purposes, even though may show discontinued or out of stock. I had a LM turret purchased at MidwayUSA that had gawled threads, wouldn't accept a die more than a couple threads. Was going to order another from Lee, but showed out of stock. When I called about sending it in, they told me would send a new one from warranty stock. Rather than pay to ship back (almost the cost of a new one), I just re-threaded it, but nice to know about warranty parts in stock.

USPS still has not delivered my two-day Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box I sent the broken part in so Lee still doesn't know it's broken.

You can order two of these ($5.00 plus shipping) -- if you'd like some spares...

I was going to ask what all else I need to make it work since that doesn't look like mine in the least but lower on the same page you linked it says:

"If you are looking for replacement toggles TP2128, we no longer have any replacements available, and you would need to update your lever system to the new Roller Handle Assembly or purchase.

TP3007

If you are looking for replacement toggles TP3007, the Challenger press was discontinued in 2006 and the Toggles (the part that goes from the Ram to the Lever) are no longer available. You are able to update the Toggle system with the newer style currently found on the Breech Lock Challenger Press. The parts needed to do this are as follows:

(1) OF3221 - Ram Pin - http://leeprecision.com/ram-pin-step.html

(1) OF3613 - Lever Clamp - http://leeprecision.com/Press-Lever-Clamp.html

(1) OF3609 - Washer - http://leeprecision.com/1-3-16-steel-washer.html

(1) FO2113 - Bolt - http://leeprecision.com/1-1-4-5-16-18-bolt.html

(2) OF2853 - Toggles - http://leeprecision.com/bl-challenger-toggle.html"
