First Sizer/lube Die kit

Received my first pass thru sizer/lube die (.356) and quickly sized up about 200 of those Lee 356-102 bullets I've been casting. I then just finished tumble lubing them again with 45-45-10 lube.

Now to find out if I am going to still get some lead shaving while seating these bullets that weren't sized. I didn't notice any of this shaving on the sample bullets I received from a member on another forum. They were the same bullet, sized to .356 and also tumble lubed.

Chamfering the case mouths, dulling the edges on some 600 grit wet/dry paper and the proper amount of flare will eliminate any lead shaving.

Normally I tell newer reloaders to use as much flare as needed to get good shootable ammo now, and worry about case life later. Put as much flare in the case mouth as needed to cleanly seat the bullets. Too much flare (which is quite a lot) won't let the case enter the seating die or scrape the ID of the die, any less is OK because the taper crimp die will remove the flare. It's pretty difficult to push a .356" plug in a .353" tube cleanly without an entry way/taper...

Yep, what he said. Open up the case mouth a bit more. Also, have you checked
your bullet size after sizing?

Thanks guys but I have a whole topic over at Cast Boolits about this problem and been through everything more than one. Part of the problem from what I can see is with the expander/flaring part of the die. That the expander is too short and the flare doesn't open the case enough.

The unsized dropped bullets measure at .358" to .3585.. When I pulled one of the bullets there was visual shaving all the way around the bullet with a ridge at the end of were the bullet entered the case. This shaved/swaged area of the bullet base measured .3565"

Now these same bullets after being run thru this Lee sizing die measure .356". there is no shaving slivers and they plunk much cleaner now.

I has asked on Cast Boolits about an "M" type expander for the Lee die and I guess there isn't anything. Then asked if Lee would custom make one and no one could answer that either.

Check the Lyman site and see if they make a M die for your cartridge. I have several for assorted operations and while they may not be the miracle worker some think they are the do have a place.

Adjust the die for more flare. It should adjust far enough to ruin the case by crushing it. Obviously that's too far but there's way more adjustment there...or should be. Is your brass a 1/8th inch short?

That is supposed to be the case, this one doesn't. Even with the die screwed down until it touches the shell holder and the powder measure screwed down until it is bottomed out it will not crush a case.

Strange. Are you sure the ram is being fully extended?
Nothing bent, binding? Nothing blocking full stroke, blocking linkage?
Now, from out in left field, ( No offense intended )
Are you sure there is a shell holder attached you are touching?
