Anyone used or seen a 'Sun Optics' mount for a 340?
Cheaper then B Square or Weaver..
Kinda worried about "Ya get what Ya paid for"....
Thanks

Re: Savage 340 scope mounts
The 340 in 222 I had had a Weaver side mount on it , held 3/4" with 4 brands of 50 gr SP and 62 gr cast at jacketed speeds .
The 325 had a Whiting peep sight on it in 30-30 so no help there .

Re: Savage 340 scope mounts
I've owned three 340s, one had a Sun Optic and it was fine. I actually have a Sun Optic mount (new) or a Weaver (used) that you are welcome to. My 340 30-30 Win is committed to a scout mount on the barrel. Actually decided to hunt deer with this rifle this year. Love my 340.
Actually going to do a Savage working man's rifle hunting season. Use my 340 and both of my 170s (30-30 Win & 35 Rem) on three deer this year.

Re: Savage 340 scope mounts
Put the Weaver SM on my 340 222 Rem. Works fairly well. There is a guy that has plans to put an 'over the bore' mount on the 340. If interested, pm me and I will find the link to the plans.

Re: Savage 340 scope mounts
Dad's inherited 340 in .222 has a side mount but I'm not sure the maker and it's old enough to likely not matter.

Re: Savage 340 scope mounts
Thanks for the link....I am still kinda looking for an original style barrel nut wrench to fix the headspace on the old (1960-ish) 340. It's likely been off since new.
