Breech Lock compatability?
So brief question, Im moving soon, which means that once that's over with I can buy my press! Im leaning strongly toward getting a Hand Press now with a single stage later because Im assuming the dies in the breech lock wont have to be adjusted when switching from one to the other. This way I can do my bullet seating, charging, crimping on the single stage and everything else on the hand press as needed when Im watching tv with wifey on the couch.
I like the idea of a turret but I feel that with the way I spend my leisure in a common space that wouldn't be press or bench or table friendly then I would need a hand press anyway
so the question is, does anyone know if the hand press and single stage are alike enough in their stroke length that I can take one set of dies (using the breech locks) out of one and snap it into the other without further adjustment? Granted, sure it wouldn't be *that* much more money to just buy another set of dies, but if theyre "plug'n'play" then all the better

Re: Breech Lock compatability?
The simple answer is nope .
Machine tolerance will be enough alone to require readjusting .
You can have 2 sequential presses side by side and odds are that at a minimum the seating die will have to be adjusted .

I suggest a hand press and a classic turret.
LEE die sets are inexpensive, so one set for each press is affordable.

Re: Breech Lock compatability?
Get a universal decapping die for the hand press. That way you can deprime your cases with the hand press.

Re: Breech Lock compatability?
Well im noodling it over and unless im mistaken, i would have almost zero cross compatibility from hand press to single stage since the dies-in-breechlock idea's out and if im already buying extra die sets then yes, a turret is in the cards. Now to decide which id want...
But then i risk reigniting the turret vs single stage war
I guess it would all come down to priming and charging options, which still confuse me from turret to single. For example, if one has a turret and wishes to prime on-press but does not wish to use the Safety Prime what is left? The ram prime doesnt work on turret does it? Or another, can the turret be used with the PPM mounted as if it were an autodisk? Can one mount an autodisk or PPM to a single stage?
