The Starline Long 38-55 Win brass gets the bullet further into the long throat of the 375 Win and allows a greater case capacity because of the length and thinner walls which causes the cartridge's pressure to drop.

There is a good explanation in this post on Shootersforum: .375 win. Brass, which includes a link to Buffalo Bore and their comments about using the same in their 38-55 Win ammo which they recommend for the 375 Win.

As far as the Lee dies go, the Pacesetter (now Steel) sizing & bullet seating dies are common to both the 375 & 38-55 Wins. The Factory Crimp Die is specific to each cartridge and the 38-55 Win FCD is made for spec brass of 2.085" (-.020/+0) so it will not work with the 2.125" brass. This is working so well that I went ahead and ordered both a case trimmer and FCD for the long brass.

The 375 Win knocked another hog off its feet last night at 11:30. I just left it lay and went back this morning to get it. I'd been up since 5:30 that morning and I was spent.



Starting in October 2103, I started using a database to record control hunting kills as part of my wildlife management plan reporting requirements. This hog was the 102nd that I've shot. In 2012, I killed 67. I bought the place in 2004, and sometimes I wonder just how many hogs this place has provided.

Actually, the night time hunting that is required to keep them in check is wearing a bit thin. I have a young fellow that owns a small place next to mine. He has all the night vision stuff so after deer season I'm going to turn my pasture over to him to have at them. I'm going to start sleeping all night.

Your neighbor needs to show them hogs some respect and use the appropriate killing implement.....a triple-four, of course. A heavily loaded H335 round gives a beautiful muzzle flash at night....not good for night vision on follow-up shots, but ya' don't need follow-up shots with a 444. Boom, flop.

True Dan. He will be using a suppressed/subsonic 308 Win bolt gun with the idea of killing all the hogs in the sounder. From an enclosed box blind, they won't hear the bolt work. I will set the feeders to go off at midnight, so that he doesn't have to be out there all night. Show up at 11:30, done by 12:15! I'm really getting tired the these pasture rats.
