Not awesome prices but if you want to get back at it:

Help I do need in that I reload for 25 different cartridges.

Wow I can't imagine! I put my line in the sand at 7 calibers that I reload for!

Hahh, variety is the spice of life. I'm getting ready to add another and cast bullets for all them as well!

That's down a bit. Two years ago I sold rifles and my tools for the 223 Rem, 300 Savage, 308 Marlin, 338 Marlin, 356 Win, and 450 Marlin so I cut down quite a bit. The only one of those that I would ramp up for again is the 300 Savage if it was offered in the Ruger M77 Compact.

Where does the .300 Savage lay in the ballistic menagerie? Is it closer to 7.62x39 or to .308 Win?

I'm just curious as my cousin recently came into a Savage lever in .300 Savage and just for the look and design of the rifle I am filled with envy despite not having a clue about the cartridge.

300 Savage is a touch less power than the 308win. Great round for medium-large game out to 200-300yrds. I flirted with two savage 99's this summer, one in each round, but never made it happen.
Been a little slow for me in the firearms/reloading department as well. I've got a thing for 40's and 50's Farmall tractors that has been occupying my time quite a bit lately as well. Put a new yard in too. I'm gonna push to get a couple reloading projects finished in the next couple weeks.

1. Get my Savage 114 in 7mm Rem mag with handloaded 160gr accubonds out to the range to recheck zero.(primary bear rifle)
2. Test my Ruger All Weather Hawkeye in 25-06 with a new batch of handloaded 75gr. V-max (Primary coyote/deer rifle)
3. Load and test a few more charges w/ my Rossi-92 in .480 with Ranch Dog's 375gr cast bullets. (Primary Bear/Deer Drive gun)
4. Proceed to burn ammo with those 3 til opening day!

The Savage is all ready!

As Cyrus noted just a bit behind the 308 Win. Something like this 30-30 Win & 7.62X39, 300 Savage, 308 Win. I've owned both the 250 and 300 Savages in the 99 but really don't care for the rifle model. There is a Savage Scout chambered in 7.62X39 & 308 Win. I think it would be an awesome rifle in 300 Savage.

Oh Lord, I wish I had not made that call. The Savage Custom Gun Shop said they can have it ready in 6 weeks. Heck, I just gave up on ever finding a modern bolt action in the cartridge, selling all my dies and brass  I think this is a rife I want but will ponder it a bit as there is a $288 premium.

And I wish you hadn't posted that rifle since I've been drooling over the thought of one in 7.62x39 since I just read about it a few weeks ago. And I want it bad.... But I'm sooooo broke despite just having broke myself worse with a $300 SMLE that I just HAD to have... ;)

Now to find a good mold and try a few hand loads.
