Just curious if I am the only person in the world to sight in a rifle this way:

Prairie dogs make a good varmint to explain the method I use with 223.
At 100 yards I have point of impact slightly below point of aim.

Most of my long shots that I took at prairie dogs went this way:
Lay the cross hairs at the top of his head, try to shoot them while they are standing. if it is close I blow his head off. If it is far away the bullet drop will be somewhere in it's body. It resulted in many blowed up prairie dogs. Looooong shots still involved mil dots, great fun.

I first used this method for head shots on squirrels. With the 22 magnum at 25 yards I would aim at the top edge of 3/4 inch electrical tape the bullet just hit the bottom of the tape. This would keep the shot in the head out to I think it was 75 yards by aiming at the top edge of his head.

I collect and shoot WWII era weapons. With some of these old rifles it's a trick to get them sighted in at 100 yards. For instance the Carcano's sights were set for 300 yards and up. So the ground gophers appreciate my sighting methods.
