Switching LoadMaster from 38SPL to 9mm Luger
I've initially purchased my LoadMaster in 38SPL configuration.
Now I'm starting reloading 9mm Luger ammo.
So, I've purchased the 4 die set and proper case holder plate.
I've attempted to do some loading... whoops... no go...
The case feeder sled (the black part that moves the shells into position is too tall. It is just a tad taller than the 9mm shell so when the shells drop from the feeder tube, the sled grabs the bottom shell plus about 1/8" of the shell above that is still in the tube and jams right there.
I looked at lee's web site and saw that they have large and small case feeders.
Can I just shave off top 1/8" of the sled without compromising the integrity of it?
I've also seen on ebay "small case slide TR2449C" for about $10 - would that be the only part that I would need to make this work? The tube diameter works fine for both 38 and 9mm.
Thanks.

I'll jump in when I can. For now I don't load 9 mm or 38 spl.

Just based on experience with other progressive I think you'll be best served by having the correct part vs modifying the one you have.

OK, so modifying the large slide/sled is out of the question, but if I were to change only the slide (purchase that part only), would that work with the large feeder?
I have 2 goals:
1. save a little $$ ($11 vs $27)
2. make the change over from 38 to 9 quick

You will need both Small & Large Case Sliders and will need to adjust the tube height each time you change back and forth.

All right then. Based on that I've ordered just the small slide ($11 on ebay) and will try it and report back once it arrives.
Thanks all for feedback.

Re: Switching LoadMaster from 38SPL to 9mm Luger
Got my small slider yesterday.
It installed very easily in the large case feeder. Just a quick height adjustment and voila... got 50 9mm shells loaded without any feed issues.
I think I will be able to change over to 38 spl just by adjusting the height in this large/small combo.

I thought wrong... when using the small slide with the 38spl cases, majority of the 38spl cases were falling over when being moved by the small slide.jloader wrote: I think I will be able to change over to 38 spl just by adjusting the height in this large/small combo.
Soooo, height adjustment and slide change are both needed to switch from 9mm to 38spl.
I've run 200 9mm and 100 of 38spl yesterday in these configs with next to no issues.
