Life is good ~ TLC314-215-RF ~ 303 British!

Post by Ranch Dog »

Received my special order mold of my design for the 303 British, the TLC314-215-RF, yesterday. Yes, we still have Saturday mail.

Did a test cast with a Linotype mix and it is a great fit for my SMLE #5 Scout Rifle. My #4 Mk I is still in NE.

Here are a couple of pictures...

Very pleased. I have a bunch of chores I need to get to but should be able to knock out a short production run of bullets later today. Really pleased! Six weeks on the special order, just like Lee said it would be!

Looks great. I'll bet that will knock them off their feet!

I'd be interested in ordering this if it lives up to expectations. What would be the cost?

Have to wonder how that would shoot in my 308 but thinking it might be a bit to long.

That is pretty much the intent!

This is a personal project, I just paid the setup fee and ordered two molds. The only jacketed bullet I've found that I would shoot is the Woodleigh #68 Round Nose but at 78¢ each, that is a bit pricy plus the shipping on these heavy bullets is costly as well. What actually tipped the scale in favor of the special order was needing more Woodleighs and there being none to be had except for $1.50 each. That slams the scale down to the bottom on one side!

The special order with two molds plus shipping was $299.

If this shoots well, and I suspect it will, I will give NOE my drawings but it would have to run through one of their group buys.

Yeah, not appropriate for the 308 Win, couldn't even begin to close the bolt from both diameter and length. My TLC310-180-RF is a perfect fit and NOE has been keeping those in stock last I looked.[hr]
Between chores, I cast about 100 or so of them and it went great. Very pleased. Will get up early to seat the gas checks and probably do three coats of Ben's TL over the course of the day. It will be later in the week before I can start shooting.

Keep us posted, Please! I'd defiantly be interested in the group buy. I have 3 NOE molds and they well made excellent molds.

Will do. Have you landed in Sugarland yet? Figured that might be the reason for the biblical rains.

Well yes and no. I've been here for about 3 weeks but need to return to Phoenix by the end of this week. Problems with property there :( It looks like it might take awhile before this get finalized. In the mean time because I'm old and ornery I've decided to spend the rest of this summer just traveling and harassing my 5 kids and grandkid. The itenrary include Sugar Land, Phoenix, San Francisco, LA, and Kealakekua. Fortunately one of my daughters is a flight attendant for your SW Airlines. I grew up on the Big Island and own a home there. 8-)
Here is a link to my home which my kids have turned into a vacation rental.
