Re: What Bullet Casting Did You Do Today?
Sorted thru what I had kept from the last dismal casting session, sized and added gas checks and put a couple sample rounds together. While the 429303 is decidedly not a lever gun bullet I was pleasantly surprised that it cycled through the Henry. I noticed in the new catalog that Lyman has brought that number back as a 2 cavity and they indicate it was designed to be a superior penetrater. My mold is a single from the mid 70s.

A couple of weeks ago, I got around to powder coating my NOE TL452-234-RF_BB. These are for my High Point 4595TS and will be run through a Load-Master to get there.

Re: What Bullet Casting Did You Do Today?
I love that NOE TL bullet in my Hi Point carbine those HP's really open up at the velocities you can push them to in the longer barrel. The clear PC is some of the easiest PC I ever used as well.
Got my new mold in form NOE this week it's the .310" 165 gr. FP otherwise known as the 30 XCB I hope to cast up some bullets this weekend and get some coated and some with traditional lube so I can test some in my 30-06 and 300 Sav. in a couple weeks.

Re: What Bullet Casting Did You Do Today?
RD ,
That bullet likes to be cast hard and pushed hard .
The creator used a 1-16" twist barrel and a long shouldered 06' for 3000 fps with 1 MOA or less .
The XCB cartridge is more or less a x 57 with an 06' neck and shoulder angle bumped out to .470 at the body junction . They were able to get to 2900 with 1 MOA accuracy in a 1-14 twist 26" barrel .
Lino will be a friend to this one .

Re: What Bullet Casting Did You Do Today?
Cast up about 150 of the 30 XCB bullets this morning. I only had a limited time today to work with them so I just coated about ten each using Super Durable Clear and Popping Silver Vein, quenched out of the toaster oven, gas checked and sized them to see how they would turn out. I cast a random set of sample during the casting process and after they cooled I measure and weighed each set. The bullets across the sampling weighed between 167.0 and 167.3 grs. Two bullets from the mold using my micrometer measured .311" while the third bullet measured .311.5" The powder coating added around .002" to the diameter before sizing. I probably coat half of the rest of the bullets tomorrow and lube size using 2500+ the other half for a side by side load comparison and let the set a couple weeks before I load and shoot them.
