For my jacketed bullet shooting, I've slowly been moving to PPU from Speer. A lot of the Speer bullets I liked are long gone and PPU seems to be filling the need. As a note, the Savage 10 FCM Scout has a .308" groove.

Loaded up a few test rds. for the 30-06 today to see how they will do tomorrow 35.0, 36.0 and 37.0 grs. of H-4198 with both PC and traditional lubed with the 30 XCB bullet. I didn't go with the max load I could have used and I only loads a few rds. for function and to get something on paper to see where I'm at.

Well yesterdays range trip with the 06 and the 30 XCB was a bit disappointing but I learned a couple things and there is a bright side to the trip. The bad news is I'm not going to hit 2500 fps. with this powder bullet combination an end up with good accuracy it just want stabilize at that velocity in MY rifle but thats not so bad. The good news is that at 2300 fps. using the 35.0 gr. load of H-4198 I shot 5 shot groups that you could cover with a dime.

I also discovered that the traditional lube bullets with identical loads left my cases filthy an more crud in the bore but the powder coated bullets left me with nice clean cases and a shiny bore so I'm going to call that good enough and move on to other projects. For around here and with the short ranges you can actually shoot at the above load is more than enough for anything I need to do. I will eventually get some dope on that load out to 300 yds. for just in case moments.

Most all rifle test loads are shot at 50 yds. as that is all I can safely shoot at around here in the back yard range due to placement of the neighbors houses. If I want to shoot at 100 yds. or more I have to make a day trip to one of the public ranges. In general though I've found that anything that shoot well at 50 will do as well at 100 yds. but I like to go to the public range and get some dope on my loads out at longer ranges when time permits.

I'm curious about it not stablizing ?
It's creator designed it to be a high velocity greased and checked bullet .
Over spun maybe ? The work done did get it sub MOA at 3000 fps but it was done in 1-16" twist .
