I like the brass prep myself ... especially the nice straight walled handgun stuff. Easy, non-taxing on the brain, visibly productive ... what's not to like

A wooden dowel wrapped with 200-400 grit wet/dry paper and some light oil will lap it out nicely.

As an aside the more I use the new Lee powder measure the more I like it. May go broke buying drums for it :D

Ran into an interesting situation with these loads Saturday. Loaded to the recommended OAL the bullets are jamming in the throat of the two Swedes I took out Saturday. Bad enough that in the carbine the bullet was pulled out of the case when I extracted it after the bolt wouldn't close. In the short rifle the bolt closed stiff but they shot okay and it opened with out any resistance so I'd say being in the lands didn't raise the pressure a significant amount. Back to the drawing board.

The short rifle, a Carl Gustav and one of the carbines with the factory turned down handle also Carl Gustave. I'm starting to think the problem is the shape of these old Nosler solid base ballistic tips as I have had a similar problem with the same style in 270 and my Ruger #1. I found in that case that I had to go a few thousand under the usual spec OAL to get them to chamber. I've put these up for now as I need to work on some 45 Colt for the "92.

Made 10 7.62X54R test loads of Hybrid 100V with 180 grain Speer Hot Cor bullets. Should be testing them Friday or Saturday. 5 with a starting load and 5 a half grain heavier. I need to order the larger expander ball for the resize die, so that may impede further development, I don't want to flare/crimp the brass anymore or use .308 bullets. Also I need to order more Brass.

In the meantime, my .308 stuff is all coming together so I have to shift into that this week. Yesterday I got Varget, 2 types of Hornady bullets and BRAND NEW CASES!!! Yee Haaa! I sorta went nuts on the .308 components. I can't wait to start those loads.

I love loading .308 Win. It is so forgiving a cartridge. It shoots just about anything I stuff in it's chamber good enough to put meat in the freezer. When fine tuned it is almost as good as my 6.5's. Gotta load some up and shoot some paper.
