I'd ASSume they'll TIG it wherein the heat is controlled. I fine welder could fix that with no rod used.

There would be no way to drill and tap the mount. I think it was silver soldered but I've no experience with it. They are going to determine what was actually used, clean it back to the metal, and probably TIG weld it. The good thing is that the fellows looking at it are as big of gun guys as all of us so they understand the heat considerations.GasGuzzler wrote:I'd ASSume they'll TIG it wherein the heat is controlled. Re: Loading & Range Day for the SMLE
Been out of town this week sitting with my sister through knee replacement surgery. I did talk to the welding shop and they TIG'd it without issue at no charge. Will be glad to get back home and back to shooting.

Re: Loading & Range Day for the SMLE
This is where I've gotten: Scouting the SMLE Rem 600 Clone. The screws for the base arrived yesterday and had a heck of a time finding the rings I needed. Got the off a GunBroker auction yesterday afternoon for $15 after a week wait.
The delay really doesn't matter as I've been consumed with ranch work. With the bit of free time I've had I decided to refinish the stock which is just about done.
