8. A pic of the wiring contacts on the "power to lead pot" indicator light. Since this light is 110V, you can simply run a wire from the SSR to the light, then one from the light to the hot side of the lead pot power socket. I prefer this light situation over using a signal indicator from the PID, because this shows the presence of real current and will continue to work if the PID goes out of whack and doesn't output a signal.


9. This pic shows the relative size of the indicator light. It's pretty big, but not too big to use, even in this small box.

10. The Bud box comes with a small pack of screws to assemble it, but no rubber feet. You have to supply your own. A more expensive box would have this, but stick on rubber feet or screw on feet from Ace HDWE work perfectly well and are cheap. Hard to find ebay the day I was shopping, those rubber feet.


11. Large components in simple mockup inside of box. As you can see, these components will fit easily in this relatively compact box.

You can buy most of the major components off of ebay for Europe or UK I'm reasonably sure, because these are made in and most are shipped from China. The nice thing about ebay and paypal is if the chinese component does not work, ebay and paypal will refund your money if the vendor does not resolve the situation. Then just order from another vendor.

Good news:

The rest of my electrical parts for my PID build came yesterday in the mail. I have my "crunch Mr. Kidney Stone" procedure in the morning, so hopefully I'll be off the pain meds by tomorrow evening at the latest if I'm lucky.

If this go as I hope, I'll be backing pictures of the layout/build tomorrow afternoon.

Might as well throw my 2¢ on here as I need to get my post count up above 5 as a new user on here.

Didn't know a thing about PID units and I'm still far from educated for certain. But have assembled 5 counting the spare one plus coached several guys on what to purchase and how to hook them up. IF you know and halfway understand what to purchase they can be fairly inexpensive to put together. And personally I enjoyed the process. It takes a lot of guess by golly out of things. I don't even use my dial stem thermometer for anything. Slow response time and harder to actually read it.

I compared the readings on 4 or 5 TC's I have and they were always pretty much dead on with each. Can't even read my stem thermometer that close! PID now monitors my hot plate as well as my stacked pots.
