Durn it! I received the .3055" mandrel in yesterday's mail but I didn't think about there being different length mandrels. Mine 30-30 & 308 Win Collet dies have a long body and so did the spare that I ordered as there was no choice.

My 300 Savage die has a very short die body like the Collet die for my 7.62x39. I looked at the parts for the 300 Blackout die and is a different part number than the 308 Win decapper. Looking at the die bodies for the 300 Blackout vs. the 308 Win, there are two sizes. A long at 3.073 and a short at 2.383. Now that I got it figured out I will order the correct mandrel length for the 300 Savage die body.

It always seems there is something a fellow has to figure out and another 10 dollar bill out into the wind!

RD,

I know exactly what you mean about things to work out and money vanishing out the vastness of shooting/hunting/fishing.

Really nice rifle you have there. That 300 Savage looks like an interesting cartridge. Is that a belt in the picture of the cartridge or am I seeing things?

Thanks! No, no belt. The cartridge looks a lot like the 308 Win, the 300 has a sharper shoulder and is a bit shorter in length.

Looking at the picture, it's plain to see who the Daddy of the .308 Win cartridge is. That .308 looks exactly like a mix of a 30.06 and a 300 Savage cartridge. I bet it's fun to reload for with modern powders and such....
