pro1000 visual powder check

On the pro1000 there is not place to put a powder cop die or similar. So I have a peek into every single case before I place the bullet. On slim, long cases like the .38spl it can be difficult to actually see the powder, especially when they still are stained from previous black powder shooting.

Some time ago I bought a few of these little LED lamps that attach directly to a 9V block battery. It is single button operation, but can be set to three different brithness levels.

I got some aluminium bar, that I fitted to the top of the press, using one of the pillar screws. The edges are trimmed to allow for the turret and to fit the silhuette of the top flange of the press. I used two plumbing pliers to bend the bar, that's why it's not angeled perfectly... but this doesn't hurt functionality.

The lamp is attached to the mount by a strip of self adhesive velcro, so it can be taken off for battery swap or replacement when broken (I bought a set of 8 lamps for I think it was 12$ including shipping)

Case on shellplate without lighting:

Case on shellplate with lighting (no powder, just for demonstration). The lamp is set to brigthness level one (of three), which already is wuite brigth on that close distance:

I meant to buy these lights when you posted this information. I had a tough time trying to check out on Wal-Mart. They didn't like my shipping addresses, either of them and wanted to charge me $36 for shipping this $18 item. I've had this problem with Wal-Mart when they are not the retailer.

Anyway, I found them on eBay, same seller and no problems with the shipping.

Just don't run them on highest level for a while. They get so hot, the plastic melts... But level 1 already is quite bright.
