Hi folks,

Now that I am getting the equipment set up I am wondering if it is worth buying a C press for decapping. I have read some bad things about the press breaking. It would be handy to have a second one but maybe I would be better to wait and buy a second o ring. Thoughts???

I think the little "C" press is as handy as can be for a task such as decapping and used one for such but also did a lot of bullet sizing with it. In the latter task, I realized that the press was actually flexing a bit on tough bullet sizing runs and causing a bit of wear on the bullet sizing puncher. That meant a bit of expense ordering the replacement custom punchers. I gave the "C" press to some kinfolk that was just getting into reloading and bought a Challenger press ("O") to do the same task. One thing that the change did give me was the spent primer tube. The "C" press dumps them in the frame vs. an easy empty tube.

The cost of the Lee C frame is tempting and if all I wanted to do was deprime then would have bought it. The challenger gave me the ability to full length size rifle brass where the C frame would not.

I got one of these little c presses as well, and intended to use it for decapping. But since it will drop the spent primers inside the press body, I did not use it. Once I tried to reform military crimped primer pockets on it with the RCBS die, but it didn't work either. So it's sitting there collecting dust.

Annnnd i might just be the odd-ball!
I do 99% of my reloading on a small Lee C press and just bought another.
Granted i have a RCBS Rock Chucker for sizing big cases but rarely uses it.
When i reload pistol cases i have added an old handle from a Madsen mashinegun so the stroke will be even less.
I drilled a hole in the side so i can empty it for primers but it is unused as i deprime by hand now.



Out with the old primers (you can empty it with a Hoover you know?)


And space for the second press


Attach to the table with two C-clamps and i'm golden.

Love the Madsen handle

Yeah, pretty much like the ergo roller handle on the new style pro1000, which is really comfortable to use, much better than the old ball type handle. Like that!

I've replaced most of the balls on my presses with larger pool balls. Over these pool balls one of my granddaughter's little socks is slipped on. Now there is no friction felt by my hand, not slippery but slick and smooth with each stroke.
