What was your first
My first query taken with my reloads was a qround hog that even after I had shot six out of a new string of .308 at my gun club had it dialed in 5 of the six touching on paper I was writing my results down then saw a hog for me that means ground hog, walk right into line of sight 80 yards from my target and shot it took its head off. What was your first game taken by your first home rolled ammo.

Re: What was your first
It would have to be a crow.
I was about 14 and living on the family farm and the crows had started working over the tomatoes. I quickly found out that the crows had regular rifle range pretty much figured out and while I could see then in the treetops at long distance, I couldn't get close enough to shoot them.
My youngest uncle had a Rem 700 in 264 Mag with a 12x scope on it. He said that if I provided the ammo, then I could use it on the crows. He even gave me a box of empty brass. I bought a Lee Loader in 264 and the bullets and other components he said I needed and he taught me how to load my own ammo. It wasn't long until the local crows had to rethink rifle range as I was creating clouds of black feathers.
It was also the start of my lifelong war on crows (aka: Satan's Imps).

Re: What was your first
A Key Deer in South Florida with a 12 ga shotgun. My brother got one that same day with his 12 ga but by hitting it when it attacked him in camp, 1 hour before the season began. Lucky for him the game warden was in camp with us and witnessed the attack. It bent the barrel on his brand new custom made shot gun that he had gotten as a wedding gift from his new FIL. I might add he had only fired the gun a few times prior to that at the range. It wasn't loaded at the time and he never fired the gun again either. It sits on his wall now under the deer's head.
