What I read was that it would be only 5.56 NATO not .223. They say (the geniuses) that 5.56 is armor piercing and can be used in a handgun (is there such a thing as a HG that uses a 5.56). This, along with the regulation of the Internet, Cuba and doing nothing about ISIS show that this "president" is a a far left revolutionary and must be stopped before he really gets out of hand . Seems that Congress doesn't have the spine yet to stop him.

Well there are a lot of guys building ARs as pistols (IE no butt stock 8-12"bbls), Contenders, Strickers,XP100s , I'm sure there are more examples. The problem is not with banning 1 bullet or load ,it becomes an issue of them being able to define a particular cartridge as assigned to a particular type of arm and the give an inch loose a mile "comprises".

If they can get one ban firmly in place, what's to stop them from banning everything???

Well good news the ban has been shelved for now thanks to the overwhelming response they received from sportman. So it shows if we stand up against them we can slow them down. Great news bad for all the hoarders that stacked deep as there is a huge shipment of nato surplus that will be coming in hopeful the prices will drop drastically on it now.

Great to hear! When I tried to find out something about this ammo, I learned that in Europe this discussion would never have happened, because here this bullet already is considered "armor piercing", and therefore banned from civil use.

A close friend of mine is a contractor and told me the new m855a1 ammo is awesome. I have yet had the time to get more info on the new composite m855a1 it looks interesting though. I will be glad when he comes back to have a beer and elaborate a little for me. I hope it will perform well and become surplus asap as well. maybe someone else here has had some hands on with the new M855A1 and can give first hand info?

It's not over yet, WE have several Democratic Reps and Senators pushing for a full ban on all the 223 &
5.56 ammo. They are trying to start off where the ATF left off. I've been to busy with work to try to keep up with all of it now. My family and I, and close friends have written and emailed our Congressmen and the ATF on that matter. I'm positive there is more to come on that issue, as long as Odummy sits in the gray house, our Constitution and Bill of Rights is his door mat. I have some down time coming in a few days and I plan on looking into the matter a little deeper, to see what kind of foot hold they have on the situation
to date.
