Re: A new hobby
AK User,
Stopped smoking at age 50, lets see that was 28 years ago.
Did the acupuncture and it worked.
Still like the smell of a good cigar or pipe tobacco but no desire to smoke them .
Have done the wine and beer making, made a lot of vinegar or so it tasted to me but I am not much of a wine drinker
Still have all the paraphernalia to make it tho.
Gave all of the woodworking gear to my son and he is using it on his house in Washington state.
The RC cars and planes might be an idea, will check some prices here.
As you know it is one of the approved hobbies for those of us that live in California. HAHA

Re: A new hobby
Fyodor would get all my bottles as I don't drink and quit smoking 4 years ago. Guess I'll have to stick with guns and cars, lol.

Syma helicopters are cheap and fun to fly. They are also an indoor activity,

Congradulations on your successes in quitting guys. My dad quit when they hit 35 cents in the machines he said 'I ain't paying that it just too high''. I haven't been able to quit but getting started didn't work either so I guess thats win/win.
BP is a nice fit into shooting . There are still lots of brand new C&B revolvers around $200 . Then you get to dabble in the real vs subs , then you can try your hand at making your own powder and fidget w/different woods for charcoal ,pressed and ground vs screened. eventually trying it out in allof your shotguns and anything w/tappered to straight cases. Then you'll wander off into making caps, but 1st off you'll have to try wads, lube pills, building a loading stand. The decision of just shooting to enjoy or going deeper into playing cowboys or jumping into North/South games and even the leap to full blown circa 1860 mountain man. There's always piddling around w/the ML rifle to build the switch bbl shotgun/musket too. There are options ranging from 58 cal single ML pocket pistols to 48'' 10 ga fowlers 45-78 cal express rifles down to 32 cal squirle guns ,31cal Colts to 45 cal Walkers and Dragoons. Paper cartridges , needle guns, the shear volume of reading to think about starting could use up a couple of hr a day for a couple of months.

Re: A new hobby
You migh want to watch some videos on you tube about carving pipes for tobacco. That might be my next hobby. There seems to be a rather large renewed interest in pipesmokeing in the U.S. Even if you don't smoke, pipe carving could pay for itself through selling on eBay.

Re: A new hobby
Just a site for you if you look into rc They have a two strok gas buggy that is huge I really like and the motor isnt so tiny that I cannot work on it.
http://towerhobbies.com/
this 1/5th scale buggy is what I am thinking about there are light kits all kinds of aftermarket parts tires and rims alot can be done to these. not cheap but larger to me makes easier.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wt ... DDPD**&P=0
I have an evader buggy that is 1/8th scale if I remeber correctly. Not tiny but not large. I like the weedwhacker motor in the baja. anyway just food for thought. They do have chopper software to train you how to fly the choppers as well with an rc type control same with planes so that you can learn to fly before chanceing it with your plane or chopper.
