Lee Powder Measure Weight

I doubt I would need this on the Classic Turret but it might help with the press where the Pro Auto isn't moving around. I was looking for someone that makes a baffle and found this instead. If someone does find a link to a baffle I would enjoy it posted. Again, I doubt it would help on the Classic Turret but it might on a static press.

Besides pushing the powder to the bottom of the measure, what use is this?
I have & use 2 Lee powder measures (one for pistol, one for rifle) but have never seen this.
Does it make metering easier, more consistent?

It is supposed to make the pressure more uniform. Actually I'm not convinced that a higher uniform pressure is better than a lower less constant pressure. Powder under high pressure does tend to bridging or ratholing, both are very undesireable and will cause less controllable, less uniform loads. In the extreme you might end up loading 200 rounds and then wonder why the hopper is still full...

To get a uniform low pressure, which is best to keep powders flowing from a large reservoir through a small hole, I suggest using powder baffles or "powder roofs" as we call them in Germany. This will create an even more uniform pressure, because it's completely independent from the actual level in the hopper, it will prevend bridging and ratholing and has sucessfully been used for decades.

I would not use an extra weight on top of the powder. Only exception would be a powder level checker, but these tend to be as lightweight as possible, too.

I agree with your thoughts Fyodor. I think a baffle at the base of the container has merit as it keeps the uniform pressure flow from the inside of the outer plate down regardless of the volume of powder above the baffle.

Yep, baffle all the way. Made one for my PPM
from an old butter bowl lid, the sides of the PPM being
tapered, had to trim (Custom fit) the baffle a lot
to get a good fit & keep it from moving around.
Until they are right, they tend to "ride up"
on one side during use, thus negating the benefits.

So have does any one have a template for this PPM baffle. To be honest I've never seen the need if the hopper is kept over 1/2 full. On the other hand I love projects and this couldn't be to difficult.

Just got this from Titan a couple weeks ago so only used it once so far. It fit almost perfect with it just needing some minor trimming.

Well for that price I will see if it's worth it.
