Lee pro 1000 modification?

Post by Mross1990 »

Ok I ordered a lee pro 1000. I already have a challenger single stage and I absolutely love the safety prime process. It's smooth. Along with the lee 1000
I ordered the bullet feeder from lee.
Now my question is...I would like to decap n prime on my single stage,
And charge, seat bullet and factory crimp on my 1000...IS IT POSSIBLE TO POSITION THE BULLET FEEDING SYSTEM IN STATION 2???

I haven't tried it. But when I look on the parts, I guess it should be possible. I'm not sure how the feeder is attached to the turret ring, there might be some minor work to be done.

Don't know why not as it attaches to the die not the press.

Doesn't the feeding system have a "plunger" that screws into the shell plate in one spot tho?

Yes, it does. But it should be possible to make a mount for the tab if you don't have two left hand only.

I deprime on a single stage (Classic Cast) with a Lee Universal decapper and load on the 1000s. I prime while sort of watching TV with an Egro primer. Load as usual, all you need to do is to cut the depriming pin off the end of the expander (on .223) or remove the decapping rod on pistol calibers and you are ready to go. Doing it this way saves messing with the priming systems which are the biggest problem with progressive presses (in my opinion), in fact I totally removed all priming parts of the three 1000s I have.

After depriming I do the stainless pin bit and then finish up in fine grade walnut with Nu-Finish and then
prime 500 or a thousand if the TV really sucks. That way the loading goes very rapidly when I get around to it.
