I'd lke to get ahold of a mold that casts that size of meplat, also got an itch to try powder coating hope it won't be too long before I get to scratch it.
What method do you use for powder coating?
Do you ever walk in a room and wonder why you're there?

Your load is a soft shooter it sounds like. I bet if you ran it up to regular rifle speed, the difference would be greater.

I use the shake and bake method commonly discussed on forums.

16.0 grs. of 2400 gets me a little over 1500 fps. in 300 Sav. or converted .308 brass, if I use the converted NATO brass because of the reduced case capacity I gain about 50 fps. If I step it up to 18.0 grs. I get over 1700 fps. either brass. It's in the plan to develop some higher velocity loads with that bullet this spring and I'll just be using the gas check bullet for that.

Well sages parcel turned up within a week, amazed.
Put some on some plain based 120 grn cast bullets, will be using them at the range this weekend - Jan 21st, I also have some 165grn pb bullets coming on Thursday that I'll put the alloy gc on and try those out too.

Also, if your having trouble finding gas checks you might want to investigate "Matsons machine shop" he makes single pass gas check making dies. Or, you can contract Pat Marlin. He makes a double pass gas check making die. He has 2 models one for gas check shanks & one for plain base bullets.. I use all 3 & am superv satisfied with all 3. Best of luck..

Thanks, Larry. appreciate that.
Just reloaded a bunch of ammo for a trip to the range tomorrow, not entirely happy with the sage plain base gas checks, few of them detached but I seated the bullets with the gas checks so they were still in the neck of the case so shouldn't be a problem. Overall length just 5 thou shy of the max oal and they feed through the 94 fine.
Got 50 of the 165 flat nose 30/30 loaded up this morning, 50 copper gc 223 rounds and 100 copper gas checked 175 grain rounds for my 308. Also loaded 50 223 with barnes varmint grenades up front as I know my 223 likes them.
Hope it's not too cold down on the range, it's right by the sea and there's a north easterly wind blowing straight from the Kremlin tomorrow.

Don't know about the Sage but, Pat Marlins plain base GC is super sweet, might take a few more minutes but works great & forms great to the bullet even with Bevel base lead. With ANY kind of plain base GC, powder coating is your friend & helps a great Deal. Best of luck, take care & be safe.. PS,, for those that tell you A GC stuck in the bore & maybe even turned sideways is NO PROBLEM??? Please tell them to get as far away from you as fast as possible as they can because there brains are that yummy semi liquid brown stuff called %@*&$ !!!!!?!!
