The grass is getting too dry to still-hunt through and then follow up into a stalk. I have a food plot that I tried to move on to some large hogs, but they heard me. Dried winter oats are crotch high so to see them well enough to shoot them you have to move in. My dog and I move a skid-mounted blind into position yesterday. You can tell he was very interested in the project, offering only just a yawn. I will bait the brush line with shelled corn.
View from brush-line back to stand (hogs view).

Haah... Yeah, with all the oat seed laying on the ground, it is essential that you not spend much time on the ground. That seed attracts rodents and small birds, which in turn attracts rattlesnakes. Some of the largest snakes I see are in this plot during the summer.AlaskanGuy wrote:i think it needs a BBQ so you can go straight from field to cooker..

If the snakes are thick in there maybe you should let the hogs go a few days . I understand hogs really like snake tartar .

Yeah, it is a mix of evils; rats, snakes, or hogs!RBHarter wrote:If the snakes are thick in there maybe you should let the hogs go a few days . I understand hogs really like snake tartar .
