Getting a little off topic here but I've been turning wrenches just about my entire life(65) and after I finished tech school in the USAF and got to my permanent duty station the tools I was issued were all Craftsman. Somehow we managed to keep the Fighter Jets fightin, the Bomber Jets bombin and the cargo planes droppin tonnes of equipment.

Re: New mold problems?
Turned wrenches all my life, 2 biggest & best were 10 years at Ryder & 10 years
at Caterpillar. Like most wrenches, I had many top of the line SnapOn tools &
equipment, mostly speciality stuff, most everything else was Craftsman, Proto
A few pieces of Mac & various other odds & ends. Never had a problem.
It used to tear me up seeing these young kids, absolute rookies, step on
The Snappy truck & immediately walk off many, many thousands in debt,
The next week, a tool box the size of a small apartment shows up with
A whole crap load of tools???? I lost track of how many repos & give backs
I've seen. But, that was back in the day of a solid Sears & Craftsman???

Re: New mold problems?
Back on topic again, after being able to spend some time contemplating this past experience and what I've learned so far it made me think that as this is my very first mold and that it was brand new maybe part of it was just that it needed to be seasoned a few times and the fact that I needed to learn a few things.
Of all the bullets I cast in the last session I sat down the other night and started going thru them and sorting by weight. Of 400 castings I am about 30% thru them and so far I have only rejected 2! The weights are very stable too. the largest percent are 104.6gr with most of the rest 104.4gr with a variance between 104gr to 104.8gr ... Al I can say is I am more than pleased.
Am now watching a .452" X 225gr 2 cavity Lyman mold. So wish me luck!!!

Re: New mold problems?
If that mold needs handle I've found that the Lee 6 cavity handle work okay and are a bunch less expensive compared to Lyman.
