45/70 Berry bullets
I picked up some 350gr .458 bullets by "Berry" to try in the 45/70. I noticed the max speed they recommend for loading is 1700fps. I will be using them in a Browning 1885, so pressure at that velocity should not be a factor. Does anyone use this bullet; what loads do you recommend; and have you used them on game? I do have experience with Berry's pistol bullets; however, I do not have any experience with their rifle bullets and have considered them only good for target practice use. Thanks

Re: 45/70 Berry bullets
My experience with plated is that they are very soft and expand well if you want that in a half inch hole already .
At 1700 fps you only have 10" of drop out at 200 yd and almost 1300 ftlbs remaining . It's still a thumper even if you only start at 1600 .
The only fly might be the wording of the regulations in regards to it being fmj but it might get a pass as an expanding bullet in a field check .
