Here is Hodgdon's chart: Wad Substitution
On the left side are the wads used in Hodgdon's data, to the right, are the substitutions. I would Google the same for the powder brand you plan on using. That seems to be the trick.

Thanks, RD, for the chart link. Many years ago I bought what I still hope is a lifetime supply of Winchester 16 gauge wads. Winchester discontinued manufacturing the wad some time after that purchase.
While I still have several bags of the wads, I can see a day, if I live long enough, that I will run low. Now I can see there is a Claybusters substitute.

That’s cuz he is a basic older rocket scientist...
When I was a kid growing up in the very rural backwoods, I always seemed to gravitate to the older types, they seemed to have the time, and took the time, to pour out their cups of vast knowledge and experience into the younger folks, or less knowledgeable folks. They are not know it all’s, but they do know much, and are willing. RD has chosen to share here. Drink it up I say.
Blessings

Of ill education and ways, known to lead young men astray. Most popular advice to those in need of it; "It is what it is" and "To hell with it, do your own thing and let them worry about it!"AlaskanGuy wrote:That’s cuz he is a basic older rocket scientist...
