Wow.. has it been 4 years???
Hi guys and fellow Lee apostles...
I am back after a long stint without internet. I moved from Cordova Alaska, to a tiny village on an island about 200 miles off the coast of SE Alaska called Prince of Wales Island. We have power, and finally got satellite internet.
I was very happy to see that I still remembered my old password and was able to update my account to my current settings. I did forget the passwords over on Cast boolits site and am now known there as MarkoPolo.
I can see that there have been a few changes, like the little PDF creation tool that makes cool pdf files out of threads so you can save them.. very very useful and cool. It looks like I have about 4 million posts to read so I will get cracking... and leave you with a couple recent pics from island hunting in remote SE Alaska.

And a dresser.. during and after
I am No good at making furniture, but have been giving it a try as there is NO place to buy furniture within a couple hundred miles. We bought a failed homestead when we came here which is little more then a shack by lower 48 standards, but making it livable. Water is provided by rainwater cachement and stored in a tank as we live in a rainforest. Mail comes by floatplane to our boat dock when the weather allows. Nearest real store is a full days travel. Same for any sort of restaurant. There is a tiny one same place as the store. The island is actually huge, about the size of Puerto Rico. Travel on the island is by truck or atv on old logging roads for miles. The village has a community generator for electric power, but no cell service. Our village has a school with about 12 kids, and small fire hall, and a church where I also serve. The tv show Port Protection is filmed a few miles away, and lots of episodes of those idiots the Alaska Bush people, were filmed here as well, what a joke. Anyway guys and gals... good to be back... enjoy.

Dang, now that is remote! Good work on the furniture, I would fail up there as I have no handcrafting skills (other than reloading). It sounds like a good opportunity to own a float plane!

Maybe that's why he has to carry a rifle why he's goose hunting!farmerjim wrote:I thought the bears had got you. Good to see you back.

Re: Wow.. has it been 4 years???
LOL.... at RD... actually, it is my son’s rifle... it’s his Rem 788 in 308. It was also deer season and bear season, and wolf season, and and and...lol I don’t go out into THESE woods alone as it is also a salmon spawning area. So we make a deal, one carry’s for waterfowl, and one carry’s for anything else we might see. It’s a lot of hiking to the duck and goose hunting spot, about 3-4 miles of trail to get there, so wanna make every opportunity count.
A eater Black bear taken last year, a good sized lynx my friend John took, and what the folks on the island call a BIG deer... Sitka blacktails are small, and most don’t develope much in the way of antlers. Around 100 lbs dressed out and very hard to track due to the moss that covers the ground. You will need to click on some of the pix to actually see them.
