Dang, sorry to hear about the moose license. I put in for the Maine lottery and after 20 years, threw in the towel. I put in for a bunch of Texas public hunts; the drawings are on 9/15, the odds of getting picked tend to be nil. At least I have my whitetails and hogs.Macd wrote:303B with 180 grain Speer Hot Core SPRN. 39.3 to 40.2 grains of Varget. OAL 3.070, CCI200 and FC 1X fired neck sized brass. Didn't get my moose license this year so looking for a good roast paper recipe

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
I've been doing a full inventory of tools . So far I've gotten moulds , handles , bullet sizers , the presses on hand and my loading dies . I looked up replacement cost , logged what I paid where I could remember or it was tagged and for what it should sell .......... Presses have actually come down a little . I have a set of dies who's replacement cost is not happening .....ever . $140 for Redding 45-70 ...... Gun show $30 . That H&G 8 cavity that sold for $224 back in 96' also a gun show theft that would bring $180 tomorrow morning .

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
Since I now load .44 mag only for the Rossi R92, I call it "rifle reloading" ....
I had time this morning to load 50 rounds of one of my two favorite accuracy loads ... Hornady XTP 240 gr bullets over 19.5 gr of AA#9. In 2014, when the bore of the R92 was still fairly "new", that load chorno'd around 1620 fps. The last couple of years they still stay around 1620-1640 fps, but the most accurate bullet (of about a dozen different profiles) I've shot in the R92. Also found that the 19.3 to 19.5 gr load of AA#9 is the best in my R92 - any increase of the powder charge at all tends to open up the groups without any useful increase in velocity.

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
Actually yesterday, but who's counting. Put together a short ladder for a couple of our Swedes with Varget and the old Nosler 120 grain ballistic tip. I say old because I've had them since the early 90's and I'm betting they have changed a bit over time,
As an aside the more I use the new Lee powder measure the more I like it. May go broke buying drums for it
Make smoke,

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
Just finished 180 30/06 for the Garand using IMR 4895 and 150gr. ball. Also started loading 300 M1 Carbine but only got 150 done today. These got 2400 and 113g powder coated lee soupcans. Spent to 2 days prior to today just doing brass prep.
I'm I the only one who honestly like doing brass prep?

An ignorant person is one who doesn't know what you have just found out.

Good to see you back on your Garand and M1 Carbine!
Absolutely not, you have me right there with you as well. I'm about halfway through with the prep on 250 Carbine cases. My SMLE Scout and Slug Gun interrupted the work.daboone wrote: I'm I the only one who honestly like doing brass prep?
