Poured a few hot ones today...

Well gents I was able to get outside this afternoon and try out the new .22 Bator mold today. For the first session with this mold, I am pretty happy. It was about 50 degrees and windy, so keeping the alloy and mold temps up was challenging but I netted 156 good boolits from a quick 3 pound session. The resulting projectiles were very uniform in weight yielding 2 groups, 1 weighing 50.2 grains + or - 1/10 grain and the other weighing 50.6 grains + or - 1/10 grain. Now I just need to find some checks and small rifle primers and send some of these down range!

Thanks for the link 62! I will definitely check him out. Realistically I probably won't even have time to mess with these until this weekend, if then. Work is wide open right now which is a good thing, but I am so anxious to load these things and see how they fly. I am thinking of heat treating half of them and seeing if I can push them at about 90% of full house without leading. Any input/comments would be appreciated.
