Re: Better Late Than Never
Very nice Cyrus! Thought you would dig this... deer hunting & tractors in South Texas. Moving a deer blind can be a big deal unless you have the right setup!

Re: Better Late Than Never
SWEET. Had to edit my post above. My uncle has a 1945 Model A Cultivision that he inherited when my Grandpa passed. My dad's was a 1948 Super A with a 1952 Super C engine. It's lives next door to him as he sold it to a neighbor when he bought a new JD. The bigger one my Grandpa had when I was a kid was a Super C as well but was too big for a city garden once my Grandparents moved back to town.
Now back to the subject at hand (thanks for the pics).

Re: Better Late Than Never
We don't see many old tractors down here, I do notice them as I drive north to visit the kids in MN. I think it is too easy, has always been, to sell stuff to dealers in Mexico. I know when I traded in my last tractor, it was 7 years old, it brought more than expected. The dealership owner said and showed me that they had a standing order for anything brought in and with set values by year and hours. My tractor was worth more in Mexico than in Texas and south of the border by sunset.
I've always thought it would be interesting to poke around the farms and ranches across the border as it might be interesting what was still in use down there.

To continue tractor talk...
I'm on I35 (mainline for illegal imports) just south of Okieland so all kinds of "traffic" comes through. It's very common to see vehicles being flat towed south in convoys.
They only have about 500 miles to go.

Okay now that this thread has been taken off track it's time to attempt to get it back on track.
OK how did that deer taste and what part did you eat first?
Okay back to tractor talk, lol.

Wow, those tractor pics just gave me flash backs. I can feel the sore spots and blisters from being in the seat all day morning till night at Grandpa's farm. Sunburned neck, too. Wouldn't trade the experience and time with Gramps for all the money in the world.

Re: Better Late Than Never
you guys have awesome and apparently very quiet tractors. i would have thought the deer would be tipped off when a tractor, carrying a hunter, inside a deer blind, is following them around.

Re: Better Late Than Never
It is funny how comfortable wildlife is around a tractor, never figured that out. I once was planting a food plot and where I turned around to head back on the next row a coyote was eating a fawn, I tried to run over him but he just stepped aside. I joined the row and continued. When I came back, he was still there finishing up, I tried to run over him again and he just stepped aside. Come back the third time and he was still sitting there. I think he was just sitting there waiting for the entertainment of me trying to run him over.
Deer, hogs, turkey all seem to just step aside and let you by.

My chickens aren't spooked by lawn equipment and my parents' neighbor has a GIANT turkey that roams all around.
