I wanted a 460 S&W repeater ....... The 450 Raptor fits being a 308 blown straight and trimmed to 1.8" . As a direct replacement for the 460 it's really very pleasant with 250s even full on 460 data in a SR 6# Mauser . A 350 gr cast stops being fun at about 1800 fps . A 1-20" twist would be best I think , plenty if you want to shoot heavies slow .
Just a Red neck,White boy, Blue blood American.....

I have a Ruger American in 450 Bushmaster. I cant say I have too much experience with it yet. I've only shot a couple dozen rounds through it, mainly just to empty some brass so I could reload it. The factory rounds were exceptionally accurate.(Winchester Deer Season). I didn't have to adjust the scope at all. It shot 1 inch right of dead center at 100 yards right from the box. I took a break after every 2-3 clips. I did notice one interesting thing, the brass as it came out after each shot was cold to the touch. The 45 Auto brass I was shooting during breaks from the 450 Bushmaster were almost too hot to handle even after sitting on the ground while emptying two full clips. It will be interesting to see if my reloads are just as cool as the factory ammo. Another thing I noticed on mine was the scope rings would loosen up after 8-10 shots. I've read on other threads this is common and most suggest blue locktite. I haven't done this yet, maybe down the road.
